TNF-alpha is a pro-inflammatory cytokine modulated by photobiomodulation in some studies.

TNF-alpha, short for tumor necrosis factor alpha, is a cytokine involved in immune activation and inflammatory signaling. It can help coordinate defense responses, but chronically high TNF-alpha is associated with inflammatory disease activity.

Why It Matters in Photobiomodulation

Photobiomodulation studies sometimes measure TNF-alpha when the research question involves inflammation, pain, edema, or tissue repair.
